This blog post chronicles the ability of the
modern American to have the supreme snacking experience by combining Cheetos with
peach tea, and now that the FBI agents who are watching us all have stopped
paying attention: now’s our time. We have do this “Codename:
Kids Next Door” style to make sure the FBI agents don’t find
out about our millennial agenda.
Wouldn’t that be a lot more fun and honestly a much
easier method of going about the impeachment (peach tea) of Mr. Trump (the cheeto)? Too bad we’re stuck
in the real world and will have to face a new world of Mike Pence should Trump
be impeached.
Back in August after the Charlottesville
Protests, Pence defended the movement of white nationalists by saying “I’m someone who believes in more monuments, not less monuments. What we
ought to do is we ought to remember our history” [1]. I would argue, however, that in leaving the
statues alone, we are not “remembering our history,” but rather venerating
racists and perpetuating their ideals. Pence, however, muses that “rather than tearing down monuments that have graced our cities all
across this country for years, we ought to be building more monuments,” remembering when he walked across Edmund Pettus Bridge remembering Bloody Sunday.
Another way in which Pence could be
more dangerous than Trump is that he is more eloquent in his speaking, knowing
he is lying and doing it anyways. He is sort of a snake in the grass as opposed
to Trump who is a snake in your face. Amid Trump’s racist comments about “shithole
countries,” Pence defended him saying, “I know that what President Trump wants
to do is reform immigration to make our system one that puts the interests of
America first” [2].
He continues by denying claims of racism by saying his President’s immigration
reform will accept immigrants “regardless of what country they come from or
what their race and creed is.”[3]
None of this is to say that I prefer
Trump’s blatant racism over Pence’s hidden racism, though. I really don't know what to think or who I prefer. I do believe,
however that should we impeach Trump (fingers crossed), we need to be prepared to impeach Pence
as well, and many of the ones behind him in the line of presidential
succession, because they're not all that great either.
What do you guys think? Are we
completely screwed? Who do you think we’re better off with, blatantly racist Trump or subliminally racist Pence?
